<p>The study analysed 19 fully OA and 27 Hybrid Library and Information Science (LIS) journals comprising a total of 11,380 articles published from 1998 to 2022, spanning 25&#xa0;years. The exponential growth of OA LIS publications was observed during the period, with an Average Annual Growth Rate (AAGR) of 10.7% for publications and 9% for citations. Diamond OA accounted for the largest proportion, with 55% of the total publications, while Green OA, despite having fewer publications, received the highest citation share of 42%. OA LIS publications under Hybrid Gold had significant growth during the later years of the study. Authorship collaboration patterns revealed a considerable shift from single authored to multi authored publications after 2008, reaching a peak Degree of Collaboration (DC) of 0.78 and Collaborative Index (CI) of 2.8 in 2022. Single-authored publications were highly prevalent in Bronze OA (44.6%) and Diamond OA (40.1%), while multi authored publications garnered higher citations across all OA models. Furthermore, the Kruskal–Wallis statistical test confirmed significant differences in median citations of OA LIS publications across different OA models and Author groups, respectively. The pairwise comparisons using Dunn’s test with Holm correction revealed that publications under Diamond OA and Single authored papers tend to receive lower citations. In addition, the Spearman's rank Correlation test revealed a strong positive monotonic correlation between author collaboration indicators and Citations. The study highlights the dynamic growth of OA LIS publications, emphasising granular distinctions across OA models and the significant role of collaborations in enhancing citation impact.</p>
