<p>The paper deals with the transparent MgAl<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub> ceramics manufacture using spark plasma sintering at 1300 °C and 100 MPa static pressure. 0 to 1 wt.% LiF is added to the mixture for the sintering process. The apparent activation energy is determined at the intermediate sintering stage as well as the dominant mechanism of the mass transfer. The influence of lithium fluoride on the ceramic microstructure, transmission and microhardness is investigated in the paper.</p>
