<p>Podands bearing phthalimide and dihydro(azolo)pyrimidine or pyrazolopyridine moieties at the ends of the oligooxyethylene spacer were synthesized. The cytotoxicity and antiviral activity against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus of the synthesized compounds were evaluated, and these compounds were assessed as potential inhibitors of the main protease (Mpro) of SARS-CoV-2 compared to compounds lacking this podand moiety.</p>
