摘要

Reddit has emerged as a major digital platform for public discourse and community engagement, attracting increasing academic interest across disciplines. This study presents the first large-scale bibliometric analysis of Reddit-related scholarship, examining the evolution, key contributors, thematic trends, and global collaboration networks in the field. Drawing on 1285 records from the Web of Science Core Collection (2011–2023), we applied tools including Bibliometrix (R) and VOSviewer to conduct scientometric examinations, as well as citation, and keyword co-occurrence analyses. Our findings indicate exponential growth in Reddit scholarship, with a compound annual growth rate of 54.22%, driven by interdisciplinary research across health, computational methods, and social issues such as sexuality-related research, misinformation and online extremism. Influential journals include Journal of Medical Internet Research, PLOS ONE, and Social Media + Society. The analysis also highlights structural imbalances in global academic production, with a strong dominance of Global North countries. This study offers a foundational mapping of Reddit’s scholarly reception and identifies research gaps and emerging directions for future inquiry.
