From vlogs to voyages: a systematic review of user-generated videos using the ADO framework
摘要
User-generated travel videos have become influential in shaping consumer behavior in tourism by providing authentic, visually rich content. This study systematically reviews their role in influencing travel decisions, analyzing 147 publications (2010–2024) using the PRISMA framework and applying bibliometric and content analysis. The Antecedents–Decisions–Outcomes (ADO) framework is used to synthesize themes, mediators, and behavioral outcomes. Findings reveal a surge in research post-2020, with strong international collaboration and citation influence, especially from the U.S. Key themes include parasocial interaction, electronic word of mouth (eWOM), and destination branding. The study identifies motivation, trust, and content credibility as core antecedents influencing travel-related decisions, which in turn lead to outcomes like destination loyalty, visit intentions, and continued content engagement. By bridging existing research gaps, this study provides a structured understanding of the behavioral effects of user-generated travel videos and offers a fresh lens on their impact through the ADO framework.
