摘要

This study explores how ethical leadership impacts faculty performance in Vietnam’s public higher education. Drawing on the Job Demands–Resources model and Social Learning Theory, we tested a sequential mediation model using survey data from 277 faculty. Findings indicate ethical leadership significantly enhances job performance, primarily by fostering a stronger sense of meaningful work. Meaningful work directly improves performance and sequentially enhances well-being, contrary to assumptions of a direct ethical leadership-well-being link. These results emphasize that ethical leadership is a strategic imperative. Leaders should reinforce the meaningfulness of academic roles to cultivate resilient, and high-performing faculty.
