<p>This research investigates how corruption acts as a mediator between economic factors and public performance through the lens of institutional theory. Using PLS-SEM to analyze data from 34 countries, the results suggest that economic factors have an effect on public sector performance through corruption and organizational trust. Economic instability deepens corruption as well as low trust, which in turn hampers efficacy. Corruption was found to mediate these impacts, highlighting the importance of establishing anti-corruption policies. The influence of institutional systems on organizations is significant while changes directed at improving the trust economy and combating corruption will facilitate public service provision.</p>
