<p>The genus <i>Thalictrum</i> is an herbaceous flowering plant belonging to the Ranunculaceae (buttercup) family. It is commonly known as “Meadow rue” and is native to temperate regions. Several species of this genus exhibit promising pharmacological properties and have been in addressing various health conditions. Tribal communities extensively utilize the lesser-explored members of this genus known as <i>T. foliolosum</i>, for the treatment of diverse ailments through widespread consumption. <i>T. foliolosum</i> are rich in benzylisoquinoline alkaloids, terpenoids, flavonoids, glycosides, steroids simple phenol and hydrocarbon. Few reports have documented the antioxidant, antimicrobial, and cytotoxic properties present in crude extracts derived from the root, rhizome, or entire plants of <i>T. foliolosum</i>. The present review offers an in-depth exploration of ethnopharmacology, phytochemistry, and biological activities associated with <i>T. foliolosum</i> species. Additionally, the review encompasses biotechnological advancements employed in the large-scale production of bioactive compounds with therapeutic significance. It also discusses plant tissue culture-based approaches for the conservation of this medically valuable <i>T. foliolosum</i> plant species.</p>
