<p>A simple and convenient one-step method for the preparation of new <i>N</i>,<i>N</i>-dialkyl imidazole derivatives exhibiting the properties of room-temperature ionic liquids (RTIL) is proposed. The structures of the obtained compounds were confirmed by IR, PMR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis data. Studies on test samples of <i>Escherichia coli</i> and <i>Aspergillus fumigatus</i> revealed their antibacterial and antifungal properties. The most pronounced antifungal properties were found for 1,3-dioctyl-4-methylimidazolium bromide. Its antifungal effect on the growth of <i>A. fumigatus</i> exceeded the effect of clotrimazole. This compound also had a significant bactericidal effect against <i>E. coli</i>.</p>
