State-of-the-Art Applications of Cyclodextrin Nanocomposite in Analytical Chemistry: a Mini Review

The industry is searching for novel materials that can respond to particular applications that can only be met by advanced materials. In this regard, nanoparticles and nanocomposites have opened a fascinating approach for creating certain qualities that may be modified according to need. Cyclodextrins (CDs) are cyclic oligosaccharides that comprise glucopyranose subunits that are alpha-(1→4)-linked, and produce inclusion complexes (host-guest complexes) containing several solids. The colloidal nanoparticle is a flexible medication delivery method. Weakly water-soluble drugs are more readily soluble thanks to the CDs, and they may enhance several drug-related characteristics, such as drug loading in nano-systems, site-specific/targeted drug delivery, stability, absorption, solubility profile, bioavailability, controlled release, safety, and efficacy. Presently, polymers, have acquired specificity, thermal stability, mechanical stability, solvent resistance, and biodegradability thanks to the addition of CDs to the nanocomposites. Several CDs have become important candidates in separation sciences; therefore, their constructions and intercalation processes have been investigated in depth. The objective of the current mini-review is to use CDs to address their applications in drug delivery, mycotoxin analysis, additives to mobile phase in HPLC, additives in background electrolyte (BGE) in capillary electrophoresis, and molecular recognition applications of CD-nanocomposites, as well as to highlight its difficulties with the composition of nanoparticles (NPs) and enhance their performance.
