Hypoglycemic Activity in Female Rats of the Sum of Sesquiterpene Alcohol Esters of Ferula tenuisecta Roots

The hypoglycemic activity of sesquiterpene alcohol esters from the roots of Ferula tenuisecta, such as ferutinin, ferutin, teferin, tenuferidin, and fertidin, has been determined. It has been established that these ethers at a dose of 8 mg/kg administered perorally exhibit significant hypoglycemic effects in female rats, reducing blood glucose levels by 99.6% in glucose-induced hyperglycemia. Additionally, no absolute lethality was recorded in alloxan-induced hyperglycemia during 168 h as compared to 50% in the control.
