  • Rubén Arjona

摘要

This article explores how ministers, counselors, and other caregivers can offer spiritual care during times of tariffs. The author argues that, beyond their economic disadvantages, tariffs in the current U.S. political environment serve a rhetorical purpose that encourages an “us vs. them” mentality and fuels an antagonistic attitude toward foreigners and other states. Ministers, counselors, and other caregivers can step in to challenge attitudes and practices of hostility and domination, as well as their life-limiting effects. The author advocates reclaiming kindness and cultivating the solidary self to respond to the careless attitudes and systems that prioritize competition.
