<p>In this paper, we study phase transitions in Coulomb crystals in a Paul trap when an external potential is introduced. The additional potential is created by the dipole trap that is a focused gaussian beam. We numerically simulate phase transitions in Coulomb crystals when one of the particles is additionally trapped by a dipole trap. We demonstrate that introducing the additional potential leads to a significant change in Coulomb crystal dynamics.</p>

摘要
