<p>Local and parallel two-grid finite element discretization algorithms for the steady natural convection equations are studied. In the algorithms, a global natural convection problem is first solved on a coarse grid, and the resulting residual is then solved on a fine mesh to update the coarse grid solution using some local and parallel procedures. The discretization algorithms are easy to carry out with a little investment in existing serial codes. They are able to achieve optimal rates of convergence when using appropriate algorithmic parameters. Theoretical and numerical results show the promise of the algorithms.</p>
