Landslide susceptibility assessment in Greece: work in regional and national scale
摘要
The present study introduces an innovative methodology for estimating landslide susceptibility within Greece. It is noteworthy as the inaugural effort to utilize the updated official National Geodatabase of Landslides, which encompasses the entire territory for landslide analysis. This research underscores the significance of scale in landslide susceptibility modeling. Accordingly, regional-scale analyses are conducted in selected areas throughout Greece to elucidate the challenges encountered when implementing a national-scale assessment. The methodology employed involves comparing and evaluating landslide susceptibility derived from both a statistical (quantitative) and an expert-based (qualitative) approach. An essential phase in landslide susceptibility evaluation involves assessing the efficacy of the generated landslide susceptibility maps through transparent validation procedures. Subsequently, this study assesses the quality of the landslide susceptibility maps, emphasizing their transparency and acceptability, and proposes a comprehensive framework for landslide susceptibility assessment in Greece. In conclusion, the results of this study show that better performance in landslide susceptibility assessment aligns with the statistical approach for both scales of analysis.
