<p>Flooding is widely regarded&#xa0;as the most perilous natural calamity globally. Therefore, conducting flood susceptibility mapping and simulating the potential impact areas is crucial to effectively managing and raising awareness about the hazards. In this study, Analytical Hierarchy Process was applied to&#xa0;analyse&#xa0;the susceptibility of floods in the Sitnica and Morava e Binçës rivers in Kosovo. A total of seventeen&#xa0;parameters, divided to hydrometeorological, morphometric, permeability and LU/LC dynamics criteria, were identified as crucial factors in creating floods and were therefore prioritized for predicting areas prone to flooding. The findings of the present study suggest that this region&#xa0;needs urgent focus on future hazard management and adaptation measures to mitigate the extent of flooded areas and address the socio-economic disparities in monsoon regions.&#xa0;The results indicate that the morphometric criterion had the greatest influence in both analyzed catchments, accounting for 53% in Sitnica and 49% in Morava e Binçës. These values were higher compared to the hydrometeorological criterion, which contributed 31% in Sitnica and 35% in Morava e Binçës.</p>

Integrating AHP and MCDA for flood risk assessment in Kosovo: a catchment-based perspective
