<p><b>Background.</b> Recent years have seen an increase in complaints of swimming impairments in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD), apparent as partial or complete loss of this motor skill. Research into study of these impairments is of significant scientific and practical interest, as they can significantly limit daily activities, reduce quality of life, and increase the risk of drowning. <b>Objective.</b> To study the incidence of swimming impairments in patients with PD and to conduct a clinical and kinematic analysis of these impairments. <b>Materials and methods.</b> The study included 100 patients with PD Hoehn and Yahr stages I–III. Patients were divided into two groups: those with swimming impairments (study group, <i>n</i> = 67) and those without swimming impairments (reference group, <i>n</i> = 33). Groups were comparable in terms of sex, age, disease duration, and stage (<i>p</i> &gt; 0.05). Patients in the study group differed significantly from those of the reference group in having more marked motor impairments as assessed on part III of the MDS-UPDRS scale (<i>p</i> = 0.033) and reductions in daily activities on the Schwab and England scale Activities of Daily Living Scale (<i>p</i> = 0.041). Swimming assessment methods: all participants underwent video recording of swimming in a pool with synchronous recording of movements using inertial sensors (accelerometer + gyroscope) and underwater video cameras. Additional methods: clinical and neurological examination, assessment using standard scales (MDS-UPDRS, Schwab and England scale, scales for assessing cognitive and affective functions). <b>Results.</b> Swimming impairments were found to be among the common manifestations of PD and could develop at an early stage. The study results established a connection between the development of a variety of movement disorders during swimming and axial motor impairments. Further research is needed for thorough investigation of this unusual manifestation and methods of its correction.</p>
