<p>Deep stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus (DS STN) is a highly effective and relatively safe method for the surgical treatment of Parkinson’s disease (PD), which can significantly reduce the motor manifestations of the disease (rigidity, tremor, and hypokinesia) and drug-induced dyskinesia and fluctuations associated with levodopa. However, the effect of DS STN on axial symptoms, such as walking and postural stability, remains controversial. The search for risk factors for increases in walking and balance disorders in patients with PD on the background of DS STN is ongoing. Studies addressing the parameters of DS STN to reduce its negative impact on walking and balance are under way.</p>
