Improved GET 101-2011 State Primary Pressure Standard for the absolute pressure range from 1·10−2 to 1·107 Pa

A brief historical overview is provided of the creation and development of the Russian pressure standards base. Relying on a study of literature data and the findings of key comparisons, the authors present the results of analyzing the state and development trends of world metrology in the field of absolute pressure measurement. The reasons that prompted the D. I. Mendeleyev Institute for Metrology to start the development of laser interferometric liquid manometers in 2000 and incorporate them into GET 101-2011 State Primary Pressure Standard for the absolute pressure range of 1 ·10−1–7·105 Pa in 2011 are outlined. The existing problems of the Russian absolute pressure standards base are analyzed. The authors define the aims and present the results of studying ways to improve the accuracy and extend the range of absolute pressure reproduction, which determined the areas of GET 101-2011 improvement: development of a high-resolution laser interferometric oil manometer and manufacture of an absolute pressure piston gauge with a set of measuring piston systems. The composition of improved GET 101-2011 is presented; the designs and operating principles of standard setups based on laser interferometric liquid manometers and an absolute pressure piston gauge are briefly described, as well as the means of transferring the pressure unit from GET 101-2011 to secondary and working standards. The results of studying improved GET 101-2011 and its main metrological characteristics, confirmed by state tests, are presented. The range of absolute pressure reproduction was extended to low and high absolute pressures and now ranges from 1·10−2 to 1·107 Pa; the reproduction accuracy was increased by 3−1.5 times within the range of 1·10−1–102 Pa; the process of transferring the pressure unit to secondary and working standards was improved.
