Updating the reference value of water viscosity as an important element of the metrological support system for research in the field of rheology of liquid media
摘要
The study focuses on the metrological support of measuring rheological properties of liquid media, particularly, on the need to update the reference value of water viscosity used to calibrate viscometers. This update is required since the existing reference data concerning the reference value of water viscosity, presented in various sources, are quite fragmented, which may lead to inconsistent results during rheological measurements. The step-up calibration method, used to determine the constants of measuring instruments, is examined. The study justifies the feasibility of updating the documents, such as “Hierarchy scheme for instruments measuring the viscosity of liquids” (OIML D 17:1987), “Water. Viscosity at 20 °C” (GOST 21727-76), and “Tables of standard reference data. Water. Dynamic viscosity coefficient at temperatures from 0 to 800 °C and pressures from that of rarefied gas to 300 MPa” (GSSSD 6–89), due to their use of outdated values for the dynamic and kinematic viscosity of water. The influence of the reference viscosity values on the measurement capabilities of the Russian Federation has been studied. The key comparisons data on viscosity gathered by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (CCM.V-K4:2018) are presented, demonstrating the laboratory equivalence. The obtained results help improve the accuracy and consistency of viscosity measurements in the Russian Federation, which is crucial for ensuring measurement uniformity in the industry and scientific research.
