Objective <p>This study evaluated the potential of bioactive peptides (BaPs) and microencapsulated butyric acid (EBA) as a substitute for antibiotic enramycin in broiler chickens.</p> Methodology <p>A total of 600 broiler chicks (Ross-308) were divided into 5 treatments, having 6 replicates of 20 birds each under a completely randomized design. The treatments were: (1) Control (C) basal diet, (2) basal diet + 200&#xa0;g/ton enramycin (A), (3) basal diet + 300&#xa0;g/ton EBA, (4) basal diet + BaPs at 200&#xa0;g/ton (BaP2), and (5) basal diet + BaPs at 300&#xa0;g/ton (BaP3).</p> Results <p>The results indicated that during the finisher (22-35d) and overall period (1-35d), weight gain, feed conversion ratio, and production number were significantly improved (<i>P</i> ≤ 0.05) in all the supplemented groups as compared to the control. Similarly, the carcass traits (carcass weight, leg quarter, and breast weight), and immunity were also enhanced (<i>P</i> ≤ 0.05) in all the additive groups than in the control, especially in the BaP2 group. The intestinal morphometrics were considerably (<i>P</i> ≤ 0.05) improved in the EBA among the additive groups as compared to the control. Moreover, notably (<i>P</i> ≤ 0.05) reduced counts of pathogenic bacteria and increased levels of <i>Lactobacilli</i> were found in all the additive groups as compared to the control. The digestibility of CP was significantly higher (<i>P</i> ≤ 0.05) in BaP3 as compared to the control.</p> Conclusions <p>Supplementing broiler diets with EBA and BaPs effectively improved growth performance, gut health, and nutrient utilization, offering a viable solution for antibiotic-free broiler production.</p>

Objective
