GMP-based medical foods, primarily composed of intact protein, offer a safer and, easily palatable. As GMP is phenylalanine-free, it is an ideal dietary supplement for managing phenylketonuria.</p> Purpose <p>This review aims to impart a broad description of the literature on structural properties, isolation methods, purifying techniques, and key biological activities, anti-inflammatory remineralizing, anti-tumour, and insulin resistance activities of GMP, while also highlighting difficulties in achieving GMP compliance.</p> Results <p>Several intriguing techno-functional qualities of GMP, including its solubility over a wide range of pH, emulsifying features, and frothing capacity, offered potential application in the field of food and nutrition domain. UF and anionic chromatography combination demonstrated a promising option to purify GMP. GMP could potentially be used by supplementing it to the diets of individuals with PKU and liver conditions. GMP has shown promise in promoting health and preventing various inflammatory illnesses like allergies, colitis, and metabolic syndrome in animal models.</p> Conclusion <p>GMP has a variety of nutritious and health-promoting qualities. Among them, it has significant immune system modulatory actions that are therapeutic in an array of inflammatory disorders. Advancing preclinical and clinical studies to validate GMP’s efficacy in managing metabolic, inflammatory, and genetic disorders-coupled with integrating GMP into tailored nutraceuticals, unlocks its full potential as a safe, multifunctional bioactive ingredient.</p>
