Exergetic and environmental performance of a turbojet engine using biodiesel and JP-8 fuel blends
摘要
Biodiesel is an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels that possess similar functional properties. It is widely recognized as the superior option for reducing CO2 emissions. This study aims to experimentally analyze the performance parameters of a turbojet engine using different blend ratios of JP-8 and biodiesel. The performance evaluation of the turbojet engine was carried out using both energy and exergy analyses. Thrust, thrust specific fuel consumption, exergetic thermal efficiency, and air-to-fuel ratio were employed as performance parameters. Environmental damage costs for each fuel blend were calculated to determine environmental effects. The results showed that the use of biodiesel did not cause significant negative results on performance parameters. The findings of fuel blends containing biodiesel were very close to that of the fuel blend which contains only JP-8 and also CO2 emissions decreased.
