<p>The importance of optimal energy consumption and paying attention to renewable energies and the good performance of nanofluids made the present study review the field of nanofluids and flat plate solar collectors. Due to the wide range of solar energy, flat solar collectors, which have simpler technology than other collectors, are gaining more importance. The beginning of studies in this field is related to 2007. The Scopus scientific database was used to find the background of the research. The results include 393 scientific documents, of which 297 documents are related to articles. In recent years, the number of published documents has been significant and has attracted the attention of researchers. India and Iran, with 367 and 215 publications, respectively, are in the first and second place in the publication of scientific documents and are the most active countries. The keyword nanofluidics with 293 repetitions and the words nanofluids and flat plate solar collectors with 203 and 186 repetitions, respectively, have the highest frequency, which indicates the high importance of the contents of that field. The research space of the investigated area is significant, and researchers can focus on the combined field of nanofluids and flat plate collectors.</p>
