Transient thermal response of a multi-tubular energy storage system
摘要
The transient thermal characteristics of a storage system help to understand the relationship between the energy supplied and the actual energy stored during charging. The present study explores the energy availability and utilization characteristics of a multi-tubular concrete storage system using air as heat transfer fluid (HTF). The experimental data on multi-tubular concrete storage test rig were collected for the inlet temperature of HTF from 45 to 75 °C and mass flow rate from 0.022 to 0.031 kg s−1. The thermal characteristics of a system with smooth passages are compared with the passages fitted with wire coil inserts (WCI) for the (p/d) ratio of 0.25–0.75. A system fitted with WCI having a (p/d) ratio of 0.75 is found most effective geometry in enhancing the thermal response of the system.
