摘要

One exciting method to enhance solar stills' efficiency is incorporating additives with high thermal storage materials. Material science and engineering advances are expanding the possibilities, making solar stills a more appealing solution for global water scarcity issues. Ongoing research and development are expected to address current challenges and pave the way for more efficient and durable solar desalination technologies. This paper is a comprehensive resource for researchers and practitioners aiming to advance sustainable water purification technologies by compiling and analyzing data on high thermal storage material additions in solar stills. Combining additives with other enhancements such as reflectors, absorbers, or multi-effect distillation systems has demonstrated that combining additives can create synergistic effects that further boost performance. Studies evaluating the cost–benefit ratio of adding high thermal storage materials to solar stills indicate that, despite potentially higher initial costs, the long-term benefits of increased water output and efficiency justify the investment.
