Review of the Hanford Site’s solubility model with Pitzer interaction parameters
摘要
Managing Hanford Site radioactive tank waste requires reliable solubility models to predict chemical behavior during treatment. This review evaluates the evolution and application of the Pitzer interaction model for modeling salt solubilities in Hanford’s tank waste, highlighting advances in parameterization, temperature dependence, and multi-component fitting. Examples demonstrate predictive accuracy for major waste constituents. Limitations and ongoing research into alternative models are discussed. Overall, the Pitzer-based solubility model significantly improves waste processing predictions compared to previous approaches, supporting informed decisions in nuclear waste management.
