摘要

To investigate the potential toxic elements contamination in soil around an abandoned uranium smelter in southern China, nine soil samples were collected. The distribution characteristics of Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Pb, Th, and U within soil profiles were analyzed using physicochemical analysis and multi-trophic level ecotoxicity assessment. Pollution levels and ecological risks were evaluated using Geo-accumulation Index, Potential Ecological Risk Index, and Contamination Factor. Results showed the average mass fractions of Zn, Pb, Th, and U exceeded China’s soil background values with the study area facing slight to moderate pollution and mild to moderate ecological risk.
