摘要

This study aimed to enhance the precision of measuring the concentration of the 55Fe nuclide in radioactive waste. In contrast to the Low-Energy Germanium Detector (LEGe), which requires a complex sample preparation process, Liquid Scintillation Counting (LSC) offers the advantage of straightforward sample preparation by dissolving Fe precipitates in acids and subsequently mixing them with a scintillation cocktail. We conducted an analysis to determine the correlation between colour quenching parameters and measurement efficiency, particularly in relation to the Fe content within the sample. Through the optimization of measurement conditions for solutions containing up to 100 mg of Fe with phosphoric acid, we achieved a detection limit up to approximately 100-fold improvement in the Minimum Detectable Activity (MDA) by LSC when compared to LEGe. This optimization significantly contributed to enhancing the accuracy of 55Fe measurements.
