<p>The article discusses the application of low-specific-activity ⁹⁰Y [<i>T</i><sub>½</sub> = 64.1&#xa0;h, <i>E</i><sub>β-</sub>(max) = 2.28&#xa0;MeV] in the preparation of radioactive patch sources for the treatment of superficial skin conditions, particularly keloids. Yttrium-90 was produced with 688 ± 41&#xa0;MBq/mg specific activity and &gt; 99.9% radionuclide purity in a medium flux research reactor. A simple and reproducible method was established to prepare radioactive patch sources, incorporating 92 ± 8&#xa0;MBq of <sup>90</sup>Y in each source with uniform distribution of radioactivity, without any surface contamination and almost no leaching of radioactivity. Preliminary investigations with developed sources in recalcitrant keloids showed promising outcome.</p>
