<p>Nicotine is a chiral alkaloid that is most abundant in tobacco leaves and has been used for centuries by mankind. This work describes the synthesis and characterization of [N-methyl-<sup>3</sup>H] (<i>S</i>)-nicotine at high specific activity prepared by two approaches from (<i>S</i>)-nornicotine, employing [<sup>3</sup>H] methyl iodide or preferably [<sup>3</sup>H] methyl nosylate.</p>
