Efficient synergistic leaching of sandstone uranium ores with dual oxidants combination
摘要
Efficient uranium extraction from sandstone ores is essential for nuclear energy sustainability. This study develops a novel dual-oxidant leaching system using KMnO₄ (0.01 g) and NaClO (1 mL) in H₂SO₄ (pH 1.5) that achieves 98.37% uranium recovery under ambient conditions. The optimized process demonstrates 25–40% higher efficiency than single-oxidant systems while reducing chemical consumption by 35%. Comprehensive characterization (XRD, SEM–EDS, BET, XPS) confirms complete U4⁺ → U⁶⁺ conversion and reveals enhanced pore accessibility. This energy-efficient method offers superior uranium extraction without intensive conditions, presenting an environmentally and economically viable solution for sandstone uranium processing. The findings establish a sustainable framework for high-yield uranium recovery with industrial application potential.
