A novel cased oil saturation evaluation method combining the neutron-induced gamma rays and thermal neutron response

A novel cased oil saturation evaluation method was proposed based on the neutron-induced gamma rays and thermal neutron response. A new interpretation parameter derived from their ratio was deduced, and the feasibility of the parameter to reflect the cased oil saturation was also demonstrated in theory. Test pit experiments were conducted to acquire actual response spectra for benchmarking the simulation model. The response envelopes of the proposed interpretation parameter under different conditions were studied to reveal the response characteristics in cased oil saturation evaluation. The evaluation results of several examples were displayed to verify the performance.
