<p>Natural radionuclides in the oil industry have been recognized for decades, especially <sup>222</sup>Rn from internal pipe scaling processes. At the Abreu e Lima refinery in Pernambuco, <sup>226</sup>Ra and its descendant, <sup>210</sup>Pb, were monitored to detect radon leaks. A pre-operational survey at the Suape Industrial Port Complex in Brazil detected elevated levels in soils of <sup>210</sup>Pb (40.8–622.9&#xa0;Bq&#xa0;kg⁻<sup>1</sup>) and <sup>226</sup>Ra (5.52 -150.5&#xa0;Bq&#xa0;kg⁻<sup>1</sup>) and in sediments of <sup>210</sup>Pb (121.4–284.9&#xa0;Bq&#xa0;kg⁻<sup>1</sup>) and <sup>226</sup>Ra (13.8–55.3&#xa0;Bq&#xa0;kg⁻<sup>1</sup>). The observed isotopic ratio indicates excess radiogenic lead, confirming anthropogenic interference and validating isotopic analysis for environmental monitoring.</p>
