Determination of 68Ga half-life by Liquid Scintillation Counting

A 68Ga solution was investigated at the Radioisotope Centre POLATOM. Two triple-to-double coincidence ratio systems were used in order to determine the half-life of 68Ga. Three measurement campaigns with one Liquid Scintillation and two H2O samples were performed. Measurements were carried out for at least 9 h, which is more than 8 times the half-life of 68Ga. Background measurements were taken at the beginning of each measurement cycle and the accidental coincidence counting rate was taken into account. The measurements gave consistent results for double and triple coincidence in the beta channel. The final result is (67.819 ± 0.010) min.
