Assessment of natural radioactivity and associated radiological hazards in the soil samples collected from industrial area of Ranipet, Tamil Nadu
摘要
This preliminary and extensive study on assessing radiological hazards with spatial distribution in 21 soil samples around an abandoned industry premise, one of the most contaminated areas in Ranipet, India, was carried out. The mean activity concentration of 238U (93 ± 6 Bq kg−1) was higher, whereas 232Th (20 ± 6 Bq kg−1) and 40K (276 ± 23 Bq kg−1) were lower than the world average values. The results were compared with different industries operating in various countries. The radiological parameters as well as radiation detriment for different organs in humans were calculated. The multivariate statistical analyses revealed that 238U was the prime contributor to the natural radioactivity in the present study area.
