ON THE APPROXIMATION OF SYSTEM-OPTIMAL TRAFFIC ASSIGNMENT WITH FLOW EFFICIENCY METRIC
摘要
We analyze the relation between a traffic flow efficiency metric, represented as flow multiplied by speed, and the state of the minimum total travel time, known as a System Optimal traffic assignment. First, we analytically evaluate this relationship for the case of a single link. Then, we conducted simulation experiments for simple two-route networks. The results show that the flow efficiency metric maximization is closely related to the System Optimal traffic assignment in uncongested conditions. This opens a new door for the practical approximation of the System Optimal traffic assignment in real networks. Bibliography : 34 titles. Illustration : 5 figures.
