Novel Approach to Solving Boundary Value Problems for Systems of Hyperbolic Second Order Differential Equations

We study a boundary value problem for a system of hyperbolic second order differential equations in a rectangular domain. We reduce the problem to solving a family of problems for systems of integro-differential equations and propose a method for constructing approximate solutions. We show that approximate solutions converge to the exact solution to the problem under consideration. We establish conditions for the unique solvability of the family of problems for systems of integro-differential equations and prove the existence of a unique solution to the original boundary value problem under consideration.
