<p>The increasing suicide rates among Black Americans underscore the critical need for culturally specific prevention efforts. The Black Church, a pivotal institution within many African American communities, offers a unique and potentially impactful context for addressing this public health crisis. This study aims to explore existing initiatives established with or by the Black Church geared toward preventing suicide within African American communities. Employing a combination of historical analysis, contemporary case studies, and literature review, our findings reveal successful strategies implemented in Black faith-based settings and identify areas where the Black Church can enhance or expand its support for congregants in crisis.</p>
