摘要

This study aimed to identify new determinants of engaging in pro-choice protests by employing Post-Critical Beliefs and Reactance theories. We collected data from 853 Poles during demonstrations against abortion restrictions. We found that as transcendence belief declined, symbolism belief increased, reactance against abortion restriction increased, attitudes toward pro-choice protests became more positive, and engagement in those protests increased. Moderation analyses revealed that the relationships between transcendence and motivation to engage in pro-choice protests were stronger among believers than non-believers. Additionally, relationships between symbolism and motivation to engage in pro-choice protests were positive among non-believers but negative for believers.
