Bimetallic Oxide FeVO4 Nanoparticles as Peroxidase for Salicylic Acid Detection

The development of novel nanozymes with high peroxidase-like activity for detecting biological molecules is essential for human health. Herein, iron (III) vanadate (FeVO4) nanoparticles (NPs) were successfully prepared by calcining spinel-like iron (II) vanadate (FeV2O4) under the different temperature (T = 550, 650, 750 ℃) (FeVO4-Ts) in air. Attributed to the Fenton-like effect and synergistic effect, the peroxidase-like activity of FeVO4-600 NPs is much greater than single-metal oxide. Base on the complexation between Fe3+ and salicylic acid (SA), a sensitive colorimetric sensor for detecting SA was established, which showed outstanding selectivity and interference with the lowest detection limit (LOD) of 0.08 µM to date, to the best our knowledge. This work may broaden the applied range of Fe-based bimetallic oxide in the biological detection field.
