<p>The processes of throttling of gases and liquids have been considered and expressions have been written for the entropy production in such processes, including the processes of minimum dissipation, that are characterized by the entropy-production minimum at a prescribed average intensity of the flow. Conditions have been obtained with which an irreversibility minimum can be attained and the value of this minimum has been found. The last condition singles out physically implementable processes whose dissipation is higher than the lowest possible one under prescribed constraints.</p>
