摘要

The paper considers the process of crater/cavity formation during high-velocity penetration of a compact body/ elongated rod into a half-space. It is shown that this process is self-similar. Moreover, for determining the crater/ cavity depth, other material characteristics, except for the density and dynamic hardness of the incident body and of the half-space, are not significant. Dependences are obtained for the crater/cavity depth on the action by a compact body/elongated rod. Analytical conclusions are confirmed by experimental data and the results of numerical calculations of the authors.
