Efficient Detritiation of NPP Unbalanced Water by the Method of Chemical Isotope Exchange of Hydrogen with Water
摘要
The authors analyze the problem of treatment of NPP tritium-containing unbalanced water discharged into the environment. Also, experimental data are given on the efficiency of detritiation of actual unbalanced water of the Balakovo and Leningrad NPPs by the method of chemical isotope exchange of hydrogen with water on a pilot plant at the D. I. Mendeleev Russian University of Chemical Technology. The plant consists of a 6-m-high column irrigated with natural water and a solid-polymer electrolyzer with a production rate of 1 nm3 H2/h. The experiments have demonstrated that when tritiated water is fed to the electrolyzer the concentration of tritium in the hydrogen going out of the column after its oxidation to water is below the limit of detection of tritium by the scintillation method of analysis. The obtained data were used in calculating a detritiation facility for NPP unbalanced water with an electrolyzer of production rate 100 nm3/h.
