摘要

This special section honors the work of Robert D. Hare, who established a better foundation for research on the psychopathy concept by developing the Psychopathy Checklist and Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL; Hare, 1991/2003). The special section includes articles that delineate the accomplishments Hare made with respect to scale development, mentoring graduate students, as well as Hare’s influences on the PCL factor structure, psychophysiology, criminology, risk assessment, treatment, international impact, and his influence on corporate psychopathy and child and adolescent psychopathy measurement. Importantly, the special section highlights how Hare’s work also challenged diagnostic systems and provided a foundation for investigative work on the causal mechanisms for psychopathy. The current articles in this special section provide a tribute to Hare while also highlighting areas for future research.
