The effect of electrodeposition potential on the polypyrrole films for supercapacitors application
摘要
The applications of polypyrrole (PPy) in energy storage have been extensively researched and utilized, especially in electrochemical supercapacitors, Due to its easy to synthesize and have strong pseudocapacitance properties. In this work, we investigate how the electrochemical characteristics of polypyrrole films are affected by the electrodeposition potential. Using a variety of applied potentials (1 V, 1.1 V and 1.2 V vs. SCE), the chronoamperometry technique is employed to liberate the electrodeposition of PPy films on an indium-doped tin oxide (ITO) substrate for 180 s in an electrolytic solution containing 0.01 M pyrrole in (0.1 M LiClO4 /CH3CN). All prepared films are characterized by different techniques, including scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). Therefore, the ITO/PPy films are used as material electrodes for supercapacitors. To evaluate the electrochemical performance we have used the cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and charge–discharge tests.
A significant increase in specific capacitance is observed at a scan rate of 5 mV s−1, with values rising from 84.21 F g−1 for the ITO/PPy 1.2 V film to 92.43 F g−1 for ITO/PPy 1 V, and reaching 125.33 F g−1 for ITO/PPy 1.1 V the highest value obtained.
