Enhanced response difference and stability of room temperature ammonia gas detection using the polyaniline/nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dot-coated hollow CeO2 fiber composite
摘要
The N-GQD-coated hollow CeO2 fiber is served as a core to prepare the high-sensitivity PANI/N-GQD/CeO2 composites applied in ammonia gas sensor at room temperature. The average diameters of N-GQD and hollow CeO2 fiber are 4.3 and 170 nm, respectively. The fabricated PANI/N-GQD/CeO2 composite sensors contain higher specific surface area and response value of NH3 gas at room temperature as compared to those of PANI and PANI/CeO2 sensors. Compared to the response difference with exposure to NH3 in the concentration ranging between 1.0 and 2.0 ppm, the PANI/N-GQD/CeO2 composite sensor is about two times larger than pure PANI sensors. The composite sensor also presents excellent repeatability, reversibility, selectivity, and long-time stability. The response value of composite sensor using commercial gas sampling bag to stimulate detection of NH3 from the human breath is about 6–10% decreased as compared to the standard test method. Therefore, these results suggest the PANI/N-GQD/CeO2 composite sensor can be used a promising tool for detection of NH3 from the human breath of the patients with kidney or hepatic disease.
