Preparation of Zn-doped BiVO4 nanoparticles by hydrothermal process for solar photocatalytic activity
摘要
BiVO4 photocatalyst with varying Zn doping concentrations was successfully synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method. The effects of zinc doping on the structural, morphological, and optical properties of BiVO4 nanoparticles were investigated. The existence of Zn, Bi, V, and O elements in BiVO4 nanoparticles (NPs) was confirmed by XPS. The XRD pattern shows the shift from monoclinic to tetragonal crystal phase of BiVO4 photocatalyst after Zn doping. A UV–Vis absorbance spectrometer was used to examine the band gap energy of both pure BiVO4 and Zn-doped BiVO4 NPs. The photoluminescence spectrum demonstrates that following Zn doping, the recombination rate of photogenerated electrons and holes in BiVO4 was decreased. We compared and evaluated the solar photocatalytic activity of Zn-BiVO4 and pure BiVO4 nanoparticles for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye. The formation of heterojunction between monoclinic and tetragonal phases is responsible for enhanced photocatalytic activity. The recycle performance of Zn-doped BiVO4 NPs was also tested.
