<p>Urban areas represent the fastest-growing habitat globally. With the expansion of cities, the conservation of bees has become crucial for maintaining pollination services. Therefore, understanding the influence of local habitat characteristics on bee populations is imperative for their conservation in tropical cities. Our objective was to assess the influence of urban habitat characteristics on bee abundance and richness within the Greater Metropolitan Area of Costa Rica. We sampled thirteen sites and quantified local vegetational complexity and flowering plant abundance and richness. We found that vegetational complexity significantly influences bee richness and abundance, and flowering plant abundance significantly influences bee abundance, while other predictors do not exhibit statistically significant relationships. These findings emphasize the need for further exploration into how habitat traits can play a role in fostering bee diversity and abundance in Neotropical cities.</p>
