Commercial Insurance, Digital Economy, and Household Entrepreneurial Decision-Making: Empirical Evidence Based on Micro Household Survey Data
摘要
Based on data from the China Household Finance Survey (CHFS) spanning the years 2015 to 2019, the effects of commercial insurance on the promotion of household entrepreneurial activities and the moderating role played by the digital economy are examined in this paper. It is demonstrated that the uncertainty surrounding the future exerts an inhibitory influence on entrepreneurial initiation. However, it is observed that engagement in commercial insurance can mitigate the adverse effects of uncertainty on entrepreneurial activities. Specifically, it is found that commercial insurance not only enhances the possibility of household entrepreneurship but also stimulates the possibility and level of investment in business innovation. Furthermore, the advancement of the digital economy is shown to bolster the positive impact of participating in commercial insurance on household entrepreneurship. Additionally, it is identified that the moderating influence of the digital economy is more pronounced in households characterized by limited traditional financial coverage, reduced levels of social security, and diminished social capital. Based on these findings, it is underscored that continual guidance is imperative to encourage active involvement of the commercial insurance sector in the establishment of a multi-tiered social security system, representing a pivotal pathway for fostering mass entrepreneurship and innovation.
